Life, its worth, or othewise

A Twitter exchange between @shubhragupta and me, between 14 June 2010 and 16 June 2010:

@shubhragupta to @rameshgandhi: yours is a life

@rameshgandhi to @shubhragupta: A pain; and yours?

@shubhragupta to @rameshgandhi: the same, i think. not enormously different, at any rate

@rameshgandhi to @shubhragupta: LIFE IS A TRAP/ TO THE GRAVE UNDERGROUND/ FROM THE WOMB:/YOU COME OUT OF ONE /ONLY TO BE IN ANOTHER http://tinyurl.com/2w5f8yl

@shubhragupta to @rameshgandhi: but it is to be lived, not merely endured, or what's the point?

@rameshgandhi to @shubhragupta: First of all, it doesn't have to be lived or endured. Also, the choice is not vested in you. And, indeed, there is no point. If this is important to you, I can discourse further on the subject, on which I have spent my life. The greatest wound to human vanity is that s/he can't choose the time, place, manner, of death, except if s/he preempts it by suicide in the manner, place and time of his/her choice, and avoids the ignominy.
